merlot.aero supports Allegiant Air of the USA with FAA ruling, FAA117

Allegiant Air to use merlot.aero airline management system to manage essential operational functions.

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND, 10th July 2013 – Merlot Aero Limited, the first fully cloud-based system airline operations management system, has signed a long term agreement with its first USA client, Allegiant Air, a low-cost, high-efficiency, all-jet passenger airline headquartered in Las Vegas, Nevada.

merlot.aero will provide day-to-day crew and aircraft utilization, control and reporting on core operational information. The merlot.aero system combines Software as a Service (SaaS) principals for real-time data and web service enabled applications that are deployed over a cloud platform that enables:

  • The implementation of mobile applications to enable users to access the system when and how they want;
  • The ability to process, analyse, and implement new insights from big data; and,
  • Social web applications where users can collaborate and communicate in real-time, keeping all stakeholders informed, providing greater visibility and situational awareness to the entire airline.

merlot.aero will be supplied to the airline fully supportive of the FAA ruling, FAR 117. The cloud technology platform means Merlot Aero Ltd has taken a holistic approach to manage FAA 117 compliance which relate to flight and duty limitations and rest requirements of crew members which will be implemented on January 4, 2014. The deployment of the new rules prior to the implantation date means Allegiant Air will be able to test and measure the impact of the new FAA ruling on their crew rosters and schedules business wide.

"We are delighted that Allegiant Air has selected to partner with merlot.aero for its airline operations technology," said Mark McCaughan, Merlot Aero Ltd President/CEO. "Allegiant Air operates a low-cost and highly efficient airline and is committed to service excellence. The implementation of merlot.aero will take care of all aspects of their operations management so Allegiant Air can expect significant cost savings over traditional models," he said.

Mark McCaughan, Merlot Aero Ltd President/CEO said Allegiant Air was quick to see the implications of the new FAA ruling and proactive in setting up the system ahead of FAA requirements. "As airline professionals, we understand the raft of implications this ruling will have on operational costs. Our software is designed to be flexible and built on integration, scalability and performance. Our modular approach works independently, or together as a fully-integrated system as an optimal management tool."

McCaughan said the changing landscape of airline operations called for continuing improvements to meet profitability and competitor activity. Deploying through a cloud-computing solution, using Software as a Service (Saas), is providing the answers in a flexible manner that meets these changes.
